Cincinnati Cancer Foundation, Inc. was founded in 2015 by Dr. William Barrett, who had a revolutionary idea of making Cincinnati, Ohio one of the best places in the U.S. to live if one must face the formidable adversary of cancer. In 2018, Dr. Barrett began seeing patients for oncology second opinions on weekends, on his own time, all at no charge to the patient. This experiment was so well received by patients and their families that it blossomed into Cincinnati Cancer Advisors, a nonprofit oncology consultation practice that provides no-cost platinum-level second opinion,  genetic counseling and financial navigation services to more than 400 Greater Cincinnati cancer patients each year, all thanks to the generosity of private donors.
